Portions and Portion Groups:

Created by Elri Steenkamp, Modified on Wed, 21 Jul 2021 at 10:34 AM by Elri Steenkamp

Portions are used when a user wants a product item to be sold in different sizes and wants to allow the stock adjustments to be updated to the product item according to the size(portions) applied. Portions are calculated using percentages to represent the size/portions of one whole product, as well as percentages to calculate the price of the size/portion. To illustrate this we will be looking at how shots/tots can be calculated on 1 whole bottle of alcohol

Adding Portion Group

  • Sign in to your TallOrder Admin Dashboard.
  • Go to the Products tab in the left-hand list and then click on Menu Portions.
  • Click on “Create Group”
  • Create a portion group and assign the group name.

Adding Portion Sizes

  • Sign in to your TallOrder Admin Dashboard.
  • Go to the Products tab in the left-hand list and then click on Menu Portions.
  • Click on “Add Portion.”
  • You will be redirected to the add portion page where you need to fill in your preferred portion details which include:
    • Portion Name
    • Portion
    • Add on Portion %
    • Add on Price %
    • Price %.
  • Add more portions to the list for more variety, in this example we have added 2 different types of portions
  • The last step in setting up the Portions are to assign the Portion group to items. Do this by pressing on the View button next to the Portion group and then selecting ‘Add’ on “Products using this Portion”. In this example, we assigned the group to different types of Pizzas. With this setup, the different portions of tots/shots will be recommended items to the different types of shots the customer can purchase.

 Portions on the POS

  • After publishing the menu from Admin, the latest menu & settings will be updated on POS.
  • Select one of the parent items (Items the Portion group are assigned to)
  • Once you have selected the item you will see the ability to choose between the different types of portions. Once you have selected a Whole Recommended item it calculates the price of the portion with the quantity using the portion % and the price of the parent item.
  • As depicted in the image below each potion (Alcoholic Tots) has its own price when selected under the parent item (Jack Daniels) but if the user prefers to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels it will display the whole price (in this case 300R).
